So I'm a little late to the party but I've been working on a couple of my Jeep projects since I moved back to IA. I finally decided, after a trip to Colorado, to trade in my daily driver on a JK so I can get back on the mild/moderate trails. I'll be doing a few upgrades but it'll be a daily driver primarily. I'd be interested in finding some good places in and around Cedar Rapids. I'm going to look into the JOCCI but I'd also be interested in finding a less formal group to go out and do some (legal) off roading.

I wouldn't consider JOCCI "formal". Yes, it's formal in the sense that there are rules and club bylaws as well as a Board... but that doesn't affect the rest of the club other than it helps it function better. I've been a member for awhile now and we get together for food, drinks, shoot guns, wheel and camp. Not very "formal" at the actual events.

Well, if there's shooting of guns I'm totally there.

Know I am reviving the dead by posting to this thread. But, there is a new group in the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids area just started getting together in the last 6+ months.

It is called Corridor Crawlers, right now they do not have a website. But, they are on Facebook. They actually got started as just a group to share information but, now they are getting together to wheel at Green Castle west of North Liberty, around the roller dam in Cedar Rapids, and so place they refer to as "The Farm". They have been having some meet and greets at diners also. Sounds like they are going to further the group and end up being an official club.

^ Funny Im on that facebook group. havent been out with them but if you have seen Chris on there I wheel with him alot.
If they are talking about hitting the farm, thats what people generally refer to as the JOCCI farm in oskaloosa unless they have another farm.

Think the farm they were talking about was East North East of Cedar Rapids. Keep seeing them talk about going out. Be glad when I get my Jeep done. Don't think my basically stock full size pickup would do real good on the muddy trails they get on.

Just wish that 4 wheeling in Iowa meant more than going out and playing in the mud. Love seeing people wheel in places like Moab and such. Last time I was in Colorado I sure seen some neat places I wish I could have gone, just didn't think the Harley was the right tool.

the jocci farm is an old pit mine, pretty much wheeling on old slag piles. lots of notches and gnarly stuff and not real muddy. Have not been to miobi or bender but I heard they are similar.
This is the farm

New Off-Roading club just getting going http://www.corridorcrawlers.com/ started as a Facebook group. Just started the transformation into an actual club in the last couple months. Primarily centered around the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids area. Hope to see it take off and grow.

Hey so sorry to dig up this thread but I only saw one mention of Tri State Stump Jumpers. WE ARE ALIVE AND WELL!!!!! I just joined this spring. Had a heck of a time tracking down someone to contact. We do runs mostly around Dubuque but go as far as Garryowen and Lansing, WI. Also do a few in Illinois. I run a '97 TJ with 4" lift and 33" tires with limited slip front and rear and keep up with the big guys as long as I can. Call Cale Waterman at (563) 581-1340 (he is the president) for details. We also have a Facebook page. Next run is August 8th we are going to cliffs. It's $40 for a year.
