The DNR 4x4 areas are listed here - http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/ohv/map.html - . Jeeps are an ORV which is the black marked trails/areas on the map. Click on the name/area for more info. Appleton is supposed to be lots of fun, I know Gilbert is.

Who did I see pulling out of U-Pull in East Bethel today with a hitch basket/storage thing with an axle in it? It was around 4:30.

.
U-Pull, one of my favorites. The hitch rack keeps greasy parts from making a mess inside.

A few of us are going up to Gilbert on the 29th of November. One last run before the snow starts to fly.

Surprised I just stumbled across this thread. Proud owner of a forest-flattening (on private land of course) beater XJ, probably picking up another free one tomorrow . Hoping to get at least one of the XJs road worthy enough to join in on some 4x4 festivities next summer.

Was just coming back home and drove by a lake that is in town and someone has an ice house on the lake already. I don't think i would trust the ice yet! It can't be more than a few inches thick. oh well, hope the fishing is good.

Odwaud,

This came up with Mantis on Saturday... Gandy Dancer is a waste of time... straight - flat railroad grade with a couple of puddles, a few bumps and worst of all... All the sections that are open to 4x4's are currently also open to highway licensed vehicles... Could have saved the fuel and driven my Saturn up it...

Except... It had rained alot the night before... to get off the north end of Gandy Dancer one needs to take a Namadji Forest DNR minimum maintanace road to the west (when it is open...). It was open that night with a number of mud holes that were mostly no big deal... Except for the one surprise.. One of the mud holes dropped unexpectedly deep to the left. If not for QuadraDriveII it would have been a very long hike to help... No cell phone service back there... I know... Like HB recently noted... Don't wheel by yourself... Of course up to that point I was not really wheeling!
