Thought it was about time to check in. I am a jeeper kinda new to MN but was born and raised with jeeps in SD. I have an 04 Wrangler (currently wrecked) and my daily driver is now my 01 Cherokee. The Cherokee is rolling on a custom long arm kit (similar to a Rusty's kit) and 35x12.5 Good Year MT's. The TJ was stock at the time of the accident but it will soon have a set of Dana 44's and 36in IROC's. I am currently living in an apartment and don't have a garage. I will hopefully be able to rent a garage from a neighboring building and start the tear down process in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned and i will post some pic's of the build.

You can find pretty good deals on ebay, but dont be fooled. New tires dont cost that much, and just start searching craigslist now for locals selling. $615 total is a decent deal for some sweet tires, but you still have to pay to get them mounted and balanced, which will come to about $700 for just tires. You can get some Brand new BFG's at a place like Discount Tire on 42 for like $125 a tire, which comes to $500 + tax, so about $535 total for 4 BFG's....Exactly.

I am confident we could get your XJ lifted with new tires all set up for 1k or less.

You also gotta realize i am getting mud terrains, which are more expensive. 31" BFG MT are 170 apiece at dicount tire. I am not saying he should get mud terrains, just stating facts. It would cost me like 780 for a set of 33 bfg mt. compared to 615.

Yup, $170 a tire if you have 16 inch rims. He has 15 inch rims. I have 16's aswell, and went to discount tire. I remember the 15 inchers were roughly $120, and the 16 inchers jumped to $170. I was thinking of just buying some steelies for $50 a pop to go with $120 tires for 15 inch.

ive heard good about the bfg a/ts but ive heard better about the bighorns.

ill keep searching but last night as i was leaving menards, i let out the clutch and pushed the gas 3/4 the way to the floor and the back tires just spun. road was dry as well. so needless to say, driving on new tires will be a whole different world and ive heard the bighorns are pretty grippy and do great offroad.

A great wheeling time

Nice! The trail map doesn't do it justice. I didn't know it was that mountainous.
I'm up for a spring trip! I just might want to find some skid plates.
