Snow day in Rapid City
The snow started Wednesday night, and didn't stop until Friday morning.
40 - 50 MPH sustained winds. Zero visibility. Almost 340 miles of I-90 were closed for all of Thursday.
These pics were taken @ my house, and the road about 1 block from my house. Drifts were super-big in spots.
I didn't get any pics of Thursday morning when I tried to get through the drift.
I ended up winching off another stuck truck to get out,,,and back to my garage. Fun hour-long ordeal in which I only drove 100 yards.

Holy cow! That doesn't look like the 'pretty soft wet snow', either (is there such a thing as 'pretty' snow!?). It looks like that crappy little dry cold-arse snow that you can't really shovel/blow out of the driveway b/c it just drifts back a few hours later.

Yuck. Make sure you keep that stuff up there!

Couldn't you tell mother nature to let up on you and drop some of that here in central MN, all we got was a few inches of rain and a dusting of snow. It was rather pitifull

LOL, I didn't realize that. I just knew there was some bad weather coming and figured it was current.. :hahaha: @ me.

Here is mine from the same storm in Belle Fourche:

I am on the fire dept here in Belle, and we had a Rescue call at 11pm. I returned home at 3am, and tried to bust through this drift. Didn't work out well as you can see. When I dug out the next day, I was so high centered, the bottom of my right back tire was actually a foot from the pavement.

The time now is 05:20 PM.
