They don't have any presence on the web, but there is a club out in Watford City North Dakota. They do an annual trip in the ND Badlands every year. Its a good time. really nice people out there. Here are some email contacts I have.
Mark Innis at (mcinnisnd @ wil.midco.net) or
Troy Lippert at (bronkrs @ ruggedwest.com) or
Bonnie Farstveet at (venus @ nccray.net)
You will have to remove the gaps in the email. I didn't want them to get spam
There is also a club called Cliffhangers out of Williston. They wheel alot in Watford City. Unfortunately there is no club presence in Minot...Otherwise, I am looking as well.

Now I'm bummed I missed it. I was planning on going but it was so hot that weekend I didn't feel like it was worth a 5 hour drive to drive in the heat for 2 days. So I went to the lakes area instead. I'm planning on going next year though.
Hey I have stumbled onto this site a few weeks ago. I live in Grand Forks, ND. Do any of you know of anyplaces to go a little closer to home, Central to eastern North Dakota or Central and north western Minnesota.
If you don't mind crossing the border, you are welcome to come up here. 2.5 hours drive to some trails. Nothing extreme, but gets you into some bush away from the masses. Usually a bit rough with the odd mudhole. The undeveloped mile lines can be fun sometimes too. Cheap campsites available in the area also if you want to stay the night.
Oh, and congrats on your First Jeep... Well done!! You will not be disappointed.

Western ND has the RoughRiders 4x4 club in Watford city as described above. Not much right around central or eastern ND. I think there is someone in Grand Forks that lets people out on his private land. There are also some in MN. There is a 4x4 park up in the iron range that is supposed to be pretty good. http://www.ironrange.org/recreation/atv-ohv/ohv-park/
Thats about all I know about. Enjoy your Jeep and welcome to the JeepForum. This is probably the best Jeep forum on the web. You will find everything you want to know about your Jeep and then some.
I'm in Fargo. We end up trail riding in Minnesota on old logging trails around Park Rapids area and points north/east. Land is too flat and too valuable as farm land in the Red River Valley area for many trails. Sheyenne National Grasslands is a fun spot to trail ride. Not much for challenges though. They closed off the best part of that park for horses only. If we wait about 25 years we may be able to get back in there.
Any other nearby trails post them here.
I'd love to get out to the Badlands, are there any maps available?

There aren't any maps of the Badlands that i know of. I think all the trails are on private land so you need to get in touch with people out there. Their is a 4x4 club in Watford City that has an annual rally in June. Try to get out there then and meet some people. I'm hoping to go this spring. I'll post here with more info when that time comes.
Let me know where you are going out trail riding near Park Rapids. I'd love to join you. I've been to Spider Lake in the Foothills state forest but thats all I know about for trails out there. Last I heard legislation passed to close that trail system so I don't know if it will be open next summer or not.
I've heard there are trails in the National Grasslands but I've never seen anything more than a section line road. So I suggest you be carefull out their. You don't want to be riding illegally.
Also just an interesting little piece of info about the Grasslands. There is an endagered orchid out there. It only grows in 3 states and 2 Canadian Provinces. It blooms for about 1-2 months during July and August. Its kind of neat because its so rare. Don't pick it though, or damage it in anyway. There is a $10,000 fine if you damage it in anyway. I know this because my wife is a botanist and did some survey work out there for a couple of years. Its very highly protected. They don't know much about it. They don't even know exactly what it needs to grow. No one has ever been able to transplant a plant and have it survive. Its pretty interesting.
I plan on going just about every year. But I always end up having to go to a wedding or something like that. I think I should make it this year, but we will have a brand new baby about that time so I don't know how it will work out. Lets all keep in touch when the time gets closer. It would be fun to meet you all.
We have had a busy winter and have been kinda collecting Jeeps, we really want to get them out there and see some action this summer so be sure and let us know if anything is going on. We are up to seven pretty good rigs, two Cherokees and five Wranglers. One Wrangler is needing to be fixed and the others are mostly ready to go climbing.
Does anyone know the dates for Watford City or Williston?
If so, can you drop us an e-mail at : Gunsmokeoz @ gmail.com (ignore spaces)
If any of you guys who have been talking with me for awhile interested in coming to southwestern Manitoba for a spring run - contact me via PM.
It will be about the 5th of April, or maybe the 12th, depending on conditions.
This is a Jeeps only by invitation only event and MUST have front and rear recovery points, full size spare tire, and minimum AT tires with 1/4" tread depth.
Sorry, had to postpone the spring opener run, probably till the end of the month. Due to nothing other than wonderful winter weather that keeps the conditions unsafe and impassable.
