Greetings from Butte. 1974 CJ5 here, currently getting a new (fiberglass) body. PM or email me if anyone's around this way. I'll pretty much be home thru the new year (working on the Jeep).

Hey there neighbor, I'm from Anaconda, also with a 74 CJ 5. I read your profile, quite impressive on the modifications. I got mine about 3 1/2 years ago. I haven't done too much to it other than repairs needed that the previous owner had created. Every year I do a little more, some day the tub will come off to be repaired or replaced. I just want to make it as capable and reliable as I can for now.

Have you been on any trails around Anaconda? I've been doing alot of exploring around here and am gradually moving outward to include the Butte area. Maybe we should get together some time.

Sure, you're welcome to pop over. But the CJ5 isn't going anywhere for a while; I'm welding on the frame right now, getting that ready for paint. Actually, I've done most of my trails in ID. A few years ago some body mounts pulled off the frame on the trail (rusted out) and I parked the Jeep. Hopefully it will be on the road again in a year, depending on how much I travel...

I don't have any recent pics. This is from about 3 years ago, shortly after I got it running and some of the bugs worked out of it. This was on a trip to Bohn lake between Anaconda and Deerlodge. I did get rid of the ugly push bar and added a winch.

Very nice jeep, what issues are you woking on now? My wife found a 1968 M38A1 that will be taking up most of my winter this year, should be interesting to say the least.

Thanks, but the body is in real bad shape. When I got it the floor was rusted out, the front body mounts were rusted off the body. It was so bad that when you pushed the clutch the left side would lift up. I made new floor panels and repaired the body mounts. The body needs to be stripped and repaired. The only thing I was concerned with was to make it capable and dependable. I got those issues taken care of. I would trust it anywhere.

The next project would probably be a T18A transmission and a tera low kit for the transfer case. Build some tube fenders and cut the rears to fit larger tires. The great thing about an old CJ is that it will never be done. I look forward to each new project.

I have worked in the automotive business for over twenty years and right now this is the only vehicle I still enjoy working on.

Nice looking TJ.

I've got pics of my YJ floating around, but figure I'll throw them up here. I'm think going to be ordering a 4" RC lift, a winch, rock sliders, some lights (fog, driving, spot...gotta see the deer at night) and some new tires over the next few months. I'm thinking BFG MT's for the tires (32/11.5/15). Probably get a new soft top with tinted windows. I'd love a hard top and full hard doors if I can find one when I get back. I know there are a ton of other little things I want, but that's the big stuff for right now.
