Climb Granite Peak this summer?

Hey everyone, I am thinking about climbing Granite Peak this summer in August, thinking go as far as we can in the Jeeps, then hike the 10 miles in to the peak, spend the night before hiking to the summit.

I am thinking it would be a great way to burn through a weekend.

Here are a few photos of the area from Panoramio

We are probably going to do it on a weekend.

I have Friday and Saturdays off so would have to get a Sunday off, I'm sure I can do it so let me know, I'm on here constantly

Sounds good, as summer gets closer I am going to start to get more of a solid plan going. What it sounds like from what I have read it is more of a steep hike than a climb, you have to hike in about 5 miles, the site suggests spending the night at the base then hiking to the peak starting early in the morning the next day, which puts you on top about noon, and will allow you to egress by nightfall.

Supposedly it is supposed to be a 2 day ordeal, but I know I'd like a day to recuperate when it is over, and I am thinking once we are back down doing some barbeque would be in order.

Thanks!

Also I really wish we could drive all the way in, there is a trail but the last time I was up that way the Forrest service had it locked, it would be awesome if we could make a trail ride out there, but I doubt that is going to happen.
