Saturday, June 1...... Meet at the new Mc D's at the intersection of Hwy 9 and Interstate 20 in Heflin, Alabama at 9 AM for breakfast.......allow some time for the troops to gather, and leave around 9:30 for Cheaha, which is only 10 minutes away.
For those not familiar, there are spectacular views, and lots of ORV trails through the woods, (but won't scratch up the paint).
Hope to meet a few forum folks there.

I've never been to Cheaha. Do you need to buy any type of special pass, or is there just a daily admission to the park that covers trail rides? I am not sure what the weekend will look like for me yet, but I am interested in going.

No pass needed. You pay to go into a part of it that has cabins, lodge, hotel, restuarant, some hiking trails and sight seeing things like bald rock. Can not remember the price maybe $5.

I know this is my first post but I would be interested in joining in on this ride! Just picked up my latest XJ this past weekend and as long as I get all the appropriate stuff done to make it road worthy I am in!

I posted the ride on wranglerforum.com and the S.O.R.E Facebook page.
Who all is going or thinks they may go?

Ill be there. I know we are meeting in Heflin, a good 2.5-3 hours from Montgomery, but where will we end to split ways afterwards?

It really depends where we come off of Cheaha. I sent SteveBad (the OP) a pm to figure out a few things.

We could end up back where we started, or in Oxford, or continue on to Talladega via back roads directly out of the park. Lots of options. As for a park pass, you only pay if you go up to the lodge area. It's only a couple of $ per car. If we do that, there is a really nice 1/2 mile long boardwalk that ends up on a rock ledge, with a view like a mini Grand Canyon.
It's probably best to just "wing it", and see how many show up , then take a show of hands as to what to add to the trail rides.
Again, I remind all that the trails are cut through the forest, but it's not overgrown to mess up your paintwork.

I am excited for this.
Out of the people that will be there, does anyone know how to propperly tune a CB radio/antenna?
I have the Uniden Bearcat 880 and the Firestik II. I've checked the SWR and get a 1.0 on every channel. I was under the assumption that I would have to tune the antenna by using that screw pin on the top. I honestly think I am not doing it right and was trying to make sure the CB was ready for this saturday.
