I realize it's still a couple days away for the trail ride, but the forest is getting some rain. That will make it a little less dusty and maybe we'll find some wet spots.....makes the sand trails a little more fun.

I camped at Juniper Springs last night. We got a little rain, but left before the storms.. apparently theyve got about 7-8 inches since around 11 a.m.

Its gonna be wet, and unfortunately I cant make it.

If anybodys down for a ride NEXT weekend I'll go. Have to get my driveshaft and rear tow point installed before I go out.

Yeah it rained like a tall cow pissin on a flat rock here in Ocala today. I'm thinking about riding out to the ONF this evening to have a look. I'm sure in Salt Springs & Scrambletown it's definitely wet. Probably the same too over by Alexander Springs area. There shouldn't be much for dust at all on Saturday. The fine sand does perc purty quick but should be fine. The forecast is currently calling for rain tomorrow also. We'll see what happens.

I hit a few of the trails near Juniper when we left and it was already pretty wet. Not too much, but enough to get the Jeep dirty.

I just thought I'd check in and say I'll be at the meet-up sometime before 10:30 am. Nothing has happened at the last minute to make me back out....(amazingly). Not sure how many of us we're supposed to expect. I count five-eight with sktr021 dropping out....(sorry man). I had two different friends as "maybe", but it doesn't look like either one is gonna make it.

I live just outside Orlando and it takes me the best part of an hour to get to Altoona. If this rain will stop, I'm going to remove my top in the morning and put my safari top and soft doors on. I wanted to do that tonight, but the rain wouldn't let up. And since we're starting a little later, I'll have time before I leave in the morning.

I usually get up early and if I get squared away quickly in the morning, I may get up there by 9:00 or so. I might ride up the south end of the gas pipeline and then circle back to meet you guys on time. If anyone is interested in that idea, I'll check the forum a couple times between now and when I leave in the morning.

Looking forward to meeting y'all. I like riding around when there's been rain lately. With company, I won't worry so much about crossing a ponded stretch in the trail.

If it wasn't for all this rain I'd possibly just come out and try to hang w/o the 4x4 but I'd rather just wait til its done.

Would you be interested in another ride soon steve? Im in Howey in the Hills, about 35 minutes from you if traffics good. I dont know how often you go but let me know.

I don't know what to expect today. Without 4x4, I'd want some good tow hooks up front. So I don't know to say to you "come on". It's actually pretty decent of you to address fixing your jeep before joining a group you don't know. I've been with some who don't think like you, and ended up parked on the trail for some time while repairs were made. Sometimes things break down and I don't mind helping....I pulled a XJ on a strap all the way from Altoona to Orlando one night. It was a internet ride like this and I didn't know him. And it might be me today. But I think you're being realistic, and considerate. I'm sorry for you, but I appreciate your attitude.

Make it a "first on the list" repair to get some tow points front and rear, fix your driveshaft so you feel confident, go to walmart and get a $20 tow strap. Post up on the trail ride forum like jampop did. You'll get some fellas to ride with you most weekends.

I guess I am out also. I will make another time when I can bring the camper and stay the night. 7hrs round trip to the trailhead is a bit much this weekend. thanks. MIKE
