Caves

Even doing some research on caves in central Florida. Hard to find info, may be joining a club soon as that seems to be the only way to legally see caves. Anyone ever seen anything in Ocala or withalacoochee? Just looking for rides that go to interesting geological formations.

It's a Jeep, it's not supposed to work right all the time.

We went in a few on our last camping trip to Holder Mine Campgrounds. You have to park the jeep at the end of trail 22 in Citrus WMA then walk in. Its a fairly far walk.

Still... we find its a pleasant enough walk along the trail....especially in spring and fall. Don't forget to carry water with you....I remember seeing a spigot near one of the entrances, but can't remember if it was potable.

I know where the ones in Withalacoochee are...nothing too special, you can only go down in two of them that I saw, one is a tight squeeze into a dark cave, the other is a BIG cave (more of a large hole in the gound that you can look down into, maybe 30 ft in diameter, and there is a little sneaky hole adjacent to it that you climb down into to get to the big hole, you can camp there if you want.

I'd be more intrested in checking out the ones in Ocala
