yeah as Tim said, we didn't have a huge turn out, so we kind of just agreed to keep each other up to date on good places to wheel and agreed to PM each other if we would like to plan a wheeling trip. My rig is certainly not as built as Tim's or Eagle's, but I think we could find something for anyone who is interested in going out... even if all you are interested in is going out for coffee.

This was at the new Great American Park in Auburn, right? What kind of trails do they have there? I have yet to meet someone who has actually been there.

I went there for it. I didn't get there when it started, but it was alright. They have a few mud holes for different levels of rigs. They only had one trail that vehicles could go on, which is the perimeter trail. It's about 3 miles total and was a decent ride. The only thing that got on my nerves was the fact that almost everyone out there was drinking while driving their rigs, even some of the teenage kids running around on ATVs. The mud holes were mostly slick mud with some deep mud and water. People were going into them to just spin their tires and slide around. Several people were almost thrown out of the back of some trucks while riding. I'm planning on hitting up Mudder's Mag Offroad Park near Phenix City pretty soon. It used to be Dirty Dogs but has a different name now.

I'd like to take my 4-wheeler out there, but I don't think the trails will accomidate Jeeps. Not sure though, they may have changed them up a little bit.

Dang! I'm so upset I missed it. Looks like a cool place to wheel, is that on Base? And there are no tree limbs to scratch up my pretty paint job

Thats gotta be the best and worst type of mud I have ever been in. Slick as snot and so sandy it cleans up quick and easy. Only thing about it was it turned simple climbs into a major event, or just turning in general. Looking forward to getting you guys out there.

looks like we will be heading out to wheel again tomorrow afternoon (Friday). We have 3-4 rigs going already. If anyone is interested PM either me or Eagle327B

Don't be scared!

Be warned though, we most likely will wheel on Ft. Benning so if you are not registered on the installation you will have to get a visitor's pass. Don't tell them at the gate that you are going wheeling. Visiting a friend would be a better idea. Like I said, hit us up and we'll help you out if needed.

(it is leagal wheeling, don't worry about getting arrested, I have done my research)

It's only "Legal" if you are "Scouting for new hunting areas". If you have too much mud on your vehicle or just straight up tell them you are wheeling, then you get a ticket. If you tell them you're looking for new hunting land, you better have the FT Benning Hunting and Fishing pass displayed in the window. I've pulled people out that told the Game wardens that they were wheeling and they got a ticket, but also have seen them just let others off that told them they were "scouting for new hunting spots."

according to the gentleman and the fish and game/land management office that as long as you have a registered vehicle that you can go on any road on the installation as long as it is not marked as being closed or off limits. I have challenged a couple of mp/wardens on it and they stumbled to justify otherwise. Just sayin' Plus I am not a real big fan of mud.

I trust nothing that a MP or game warden says...One MP informed me that it is a 150 dollar ticket for not having both mirrors. He also stated that it was Georgia law..In which Georgia law states that the vehicle must have "A" mirror capable of seeing 200 feet behind the vehicle. It is also up for interepetation but USAIC reg 190-5 states there is no use of ATV's with one, two, three or four wheels and states nothing about POV. If our vhicles qualify for ATV then they would be illegal to drive on the improved surfaces of post. The only issues I have ever encountered with the Wardens/MP/Da civillians while on fire breaks and trails was whether I had a firearm or not.

had good day, a bit of carnage, but all is well. Bruce spun the housing on his axle tubes causing the u-joint to snap. Stinkin' AMC 20 rearend! Life is good though, know a gentleman who is going to weld the housing back to axle tubes for us, thanks Joe!!!
