North GA Benefit Jeep Cruise and Drive In Movie

I want to get this posted as early as possible so everyone can get it on their calendar. Won't be any mud involved but I absolutely guarantee you it will be a blast. The Pickens County Sheriff's office is organizing a 65 mile "top down" Jeep ride to benefit The Georgia Sheriff's Youth Homes. This is a phenomenal organization that provides support, education, role models and turns the lives around for many kids in our state. See linky here: http://georgiasheriffsyouth.org

Registration and start will be from Jasper Jeep at 16:30 on Saturday the 24th of September. We will have a police escort as we tour the backroads of North GA traveling through Pickens, Gilmer and Fannin counties. We will get to blow through stop lights and signs along the way as the regional SOs escort us through. The ride will end at the Swan Drive-in in Blue Ridge where we will be treated to a special double feature event.

The cost of registration is $20 per vehicle. Entry to the theatre is between $3 & $5 per person. Come hungry. 100% of FUNDS FROM FOOD & CONCESSIONS will be donated to the Sheriff's Youth Homes.

First 100 registrations will get a great looking T-shirt and all registrants will get a commemorative decal. There will also be some special drawings and door prizes.

Once again, registration is not open yet, I want to get it on your calendars. I will post more information as it becomes available.

Ride update!!

Thanks all for the interest. At this very moment we are on hold and should know something in the next 5-7 days as to the outcome.

The theatre was damaged in the tornadoes a few weeks ago. The theatre is actually owned by the city of Blue Ridge and in a 25 year lease to the guy that operates it. The city got 300K from the insurance company to repair the theatre. The city council voted to fix it and then the mayor decided that she would rather throw the money into the general fund instead of fixing the screen. So a battle royal is going on right at the moment and we are awaiting the outcome. If the theatre does not pan out we are already looking at some alternate end points.

I apologize for the delay and thanks for the patience. I will post as soon as a decision is made.

All the best,

Greg
