Georgia Off Roading

I live in Georgia and I've been trying to research where I can go off roading but seem to have come to the conclusion that there aren't many places where you can unless you go up near the tennessee border. If any of you guys live in Georgia could share me you thoughts on good off roading spots that are near Atlanta, I would very much appreciate it. Or if you don't know on any close, if you know of any good spots in Georgia, that would be nice also. I'm working on joining some clubs, but I just really want some quick spots that me and some guys could hit up real quick on the weekends. Thanks

Find your own! Haha. I guess it's easier for me since I'm still in high school. Everyone in the school rides power lines or abandoned golf courses around here, about 30 miles east of the Alabama line right near I-20. I suggest joining a club though...

I'd be interested in some ideas, too.

Really? Whereabouts? Auburn isn't far from me at all, and I've got family out there.

2 of the 3 Alabama parks are within 30 miles of the state line. Just giving options to those that want to wheel legally. Much better than wheeling powerlines or abandoned golf courses IMHO.

We did Upper Sweet water this weekend. It's outside of Canton where HW20 meets 108. Not a long run, but plenty of fun for an hour or so. Saw 4 or 5 other jeeps on the trail, nice bunch of folks.

Shoot the only one I can think of in Georgia is Durhamtown. There were talks of a park opening somewhere west of Atlanta but Im not sure whatever became of that. If you are closer to South Carolina, Go visit Skip at Gulches Offroad Park. Its a pretty awesome place, with friendly people. There are obstacles for everyone, and bypasses for everything.

River Rock was THE place to go in GA, but Steve had to close it down a while back. It was a "your home away from home" kinda place. A shame its not there anymore (at least for the public)

Wheeling on abandoned golf courses is bad form.. not to mention the criminal charges that can go along with that. We are trying to break the outlaw mentality people have of offroaders, thats not helping the cause at all.

No one has mentioned Beasley Knob in Blairsville? It's small but pretty fun for a day ride with a few challenging trails. If it rains the US Forest Service will most likely close it until it dries out. That place is nearly impossible to ride in the rain.

I've also ridden at Durhamtown Plantation and River Rock (closed). Other than that I'm unaware of other places in Georgia. Here's some other places I have rode in the surrounding states:

Choccolocco Mountain (AL)
Morris Mountain (AL)
Gulches ORV (SC)
Tellico (TN-Closed)

Places I want and will be riding at are Windrock OHV (TN) and Uhwharrie National Forest (NC). Georgia parks are just dwindling it seems.
