I hate that part of the wonderful vehicle ownership process. That, and the Ad Valorum tax.

it's so dumb. there was more pollution produced during the production process of that hippie down the streets prius, than my jeep will put out the entire time i own it.

i might just tag it at my mom's in alabama. no emissions

I live in north Atlanta (Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area).

Speaking of that, does anyone know of a good place to get an alignment in the Sandy Springs/Roswell/Alpharetta area? My Jeep is trying to prove to me that I do in fact care about ride quality by inducing the adult version of Shaking Baby Syndrome...

Unless you have adjustable control arms (an aftermarket upgrade), all you can do is adjust the toe-in, so do it yourself. If you insist on having someone else do it, go with one of the chains that have lifetime alignment deals (pay a higher price but get the alignment done as often as you like).

Check out Southern Off-Road. They're off McFarland (exit 12 on GA 400). I think I paid about $35 for them to do a full alignment check (front, back, thrust-angle, etc.) a while back. As dualtjs says, you can do the toe-in yourself if you want but I like having the sheet to know what my starting point is.

FWIW, my shaking woes went away once I put on a new set of tires. A year later I have a bit of a bounce out of one of them that I need to have rebalanced.

Thanks guys. I adjusted the toe in myself a while back after replacing the pitman arm tierod, and it got better. I want to get an alignment done by a reliable shop now to see if it can get even better before I replace my tires. If it comes to replacing tires then I have another 6 months to a year to deal with it as my tires have a lot of tread left...

Meansville, GA here. That's a bump in the road in Pike Co., about half way between Macon and Atlanta.

Cool! I'm trying to make a run down to Savannah for a little vacation over the Memorial Day weekend with my wife. Hopefully the Jeep will be out of the shop by then so I can take it instead of the wife's Honda.
