My buddies and I usually go wheeling up in Blairsville at Beasley Knob. We plan big trips every 3 months or so but he lives in Buford and we typically meet in Athens depending on where we're going. I'll post up if we make a run anytime soon.

I am always down for some runs. There are some decent size 4x4 clubs in GA that do monthly rides. Happy trails

Closed down about a year or so ago. It's in Milledgeville BTW. It was an awesome place to wheel. The owners decided to get out of the sport and built a house down where the trails were. I've heard Durhamtown is better with a more developed 4x4 section but I haven't had the desire to check it out since I last went. I say take a ride to Morris Mountain in AL or Gulches in SC.

Do you have to have some sort of permit or anything from the state before you can wheel in a WMA? Or, since your post is pretty old, is this area still legal?

I ask because just a few weeks ago, my roommate and I were riding around in that area looking for some place to go off road, on Lower Sweetwater when we came upon a Park Ranger (not sure if GA State Park Ranger or Corps of Engineers Park Ranger) with a whole bunch of ATVs pulled over and ticketing them. Some of the guys sorta gestured that we needed to turn around, so that's what we did.

We spent all day yesterday riding around trying to find some places to ride in northern Cherokee and northeastern Bartow Counties but every place that looked like a fun ride had a locked gate.

I would love to get together with a few people around here and get some mud on my old Jeep.

I just went there last weekend as long as you stay in the trails and don't make a $/&t ton of noise you won't get In trouble.
