Moving to SC...

Hello. I'm moving to Columbia, SC this summer. Before I joined the military eleven years ago I lived in Aiken, SC. However, I'm not familiar with the off-road laws in SC. What are the SC fender laws and are there any other important laws I should know concerning off-roading?

Also, is there a club in or near Columbia? I doubt there isn't - just looking to start my networking really.

Thanks,
Dave

South Carolina is pretty slack in terms on fender laws and such. I see big fullsize trucks runnin 40s down the road so i would think youll be fine. Gulches Offroad in Laurens County is not too far from ya, about 1 1/2 hours maybe. Welcome to the greatest state in the south. Look into local clubs/organizations to get started. The locals know all the great spots to go wheel.

Welcome to SC! I'm up in the north western corner about 2 hours above you but we have some good spots up in the hills and a new off road park that is opening in Febuary. Gulches is fun though and something for the whole family.

found some info on the park on another forum, they were hoping to open it frist of the year, but delayed, they are still working on it and sounds like it may be open this month or early march, they say you can go up on saturdays and help cut the trails and stuff, and they ride the trails when they're done, its gonna probably be 15 bucks to get in (obviously better off with a year pass), and word is its gonna be a good bit bigger than gulches!!! sounds like it should be good.

here's a little info http://www.gulchesorvpark.com/bb/php...84593&start=30

that parked opened and closed a year later. poor managment and issues with the surrounding streams put an end to it.

Stay OFF private property. Dont wheel where ANYONE can 'see' you like on a ditch next to the roadway, people around here call 911 over ANYTHING and complain.
