A special thanks to the DurtyRok members that participated, http://www.crawleroffroad.com who helped build up many of our jeeps, and our safety leader CarolinaTJ who helped plan this run after suggesting it one night around the campfire!
This is Dave Rushing. I wanted to thank all the Durtyrok gang for hosting an awesome day of 'wheeling on Saturday. I was there with my 5 year old son, Nathan and my friend, Bobby in my green JKU Rubi "trail limo" for the morning portion of the event. This was Nathan's first trail experience and he had a blast. I wish we could have stayed longer but we came doorless and we were afraid that we would get caught in the rain going home. That would have been okay if it had not been quite so chilly.
I learned a lot on this little adventure. First and most important is to GET A TRAIL PASS! Seriously...I got so wrapped up in the excitement of meeting you folks that morning at the Outpost, checking out everybody's rigs, trying to figure out how to work my nifty new air-down tool and taking Nathan to the bathroom three times that I totally forgot to get a trail pass! The second thing I learned is that the park rangers don't take too kindly to using their ATV loading docks as an RTI ramp to flex your suspension. The ranger was nice about the ramp thing but he did give me a $50 ticket for not having a trail pass. I really wanted to go get a pass and meet back up with ya'll on the trails but, like I said, we weren't prepared for the weather to be as cool as it was and a rainy ride back to Charlotte would have been miserable. I hope you guys will let us come back out with you again real soon. We can't wait! Here's a few pics:
Dave you are welcome to ride with us any time. Keep an eye on the DurtyRok forum, some of us plan short notice trips to ure on a regular basis. We are talking about doing another newbie run in the fall.
