Tellico

I was curious about some stuff. I have been out of NC for going on 6 years now. I just read today that Tellico was closed back in 2009. Does anyone know if it will be reopening anytime soon? Because I will be moving back in just under a year.

People are fighting to clean it up and get it reopened. It's not looking good though. There are a couple long and semi current threads on Tellico on Jeepforum and Pirate.

My hope is that someday it will be open again. Hard to say though.

I was doing some reading about it. But what was the reason it was closed? Most of what I read was about some lady who was put in office wanted to close it.

IIRC it had to do with an endangered species of fish or reptile plus the erosion and runoff was an issue. I loved Tellico and I wish I could go back. Maybe one day but I doubt it.

Even IF it did open the logging company has pretty much turned it into flat roads to get their equipment through...
