nothing it will do fine. the con has been neutered. though 33"s+ help with rocks banging up the bottom.

well i will be on the Dusy in Aug., so this wont work for us. Another great trail in Cali. I think its better my self. longer less people( a plus) though much higher too so it gets rather cold even in aug.

gets cold year round I bet, have ran the whole Dusy once. Second time around we ran from Kaiser pass to Ershim campground and back. Is the fun part. Love the scenery of the high Sierras

Might try and make this if the time works out. Just did the Rubicon this last year after a ten year hiatus. While it has been changed, I wouldn't call it "neutered" by any stretch. You are still going to have a great time and be challenged. This is a mellow section:

And yes that is three LJ Rubicons in a row.

With our lack of snow this year, the water crossing on Fordyce won't be a problem, but be prepared for a much harder trail. Most of the buggy traffic has moved from the Rubicon to Fordyce. Fordyce is still one of my wife's and I favorite trails.

I really want to run Dusy-Ershim. Of all of the trails we have ran in the Sierras, I haven't made that run yet.

Jack

Things are lining up well and it's looking like a good chance I'll be in for this. Just the Rubicon though.

Question: For a cross country trip such as this, would I be happier having the hardtop or soft-top on my 2005 Rubicon Unlimited?

Hard top is a little quieter but the trade off is you won't be able to take it off on the trail. I'll be cruising from CO with a soft top.

On our trips we have made the soft top hasnt been that bad . Plus when we get where we are going the windows and doors come off for wheeling. I plan on running the soft doors on the way to the Rubicon this year , I will have to report back on that one .

Gotta tag this! Would be an epic trip if there's anyway for me to make it... Plus the caravan needs a JK8 on the trails!

Just bumping this as a reminder for people to request the time off……. can we get an updated list of who's currently in or tentatively in, or positively out? haha.

You'll be just fine! We're counting on you to lead….. since you're a local.

Not sure how "local" I am. 4hr drive for me. I think you're closer, so you should lead, I'll run tailgunner.

Tentative. All depends on the GF's time off.
