Jeep Trip To NC!!

Hey ya'll,

Me and my buddy are looking to make a trip up to NC to do some wheelin. Ideally would be looking for some mountain exposure since down here in florida there aren't too many of them. Haven't set a specific date but we're really looking for some input as to places, after that we'll put down some specifics.

Any feedback ya'll have would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

There are a handful of trails around the Asheville, Hendersonville area. Depending on what part of the state you are going to...

A guy I work with is from hendersonville, has very good things to say about it. We really don't have a set location we're shooting for. Wanted to get some input from ya'll. The stuff down here in florida is sparse. A couple of rock quarries are the best stuff we've been able to play around in. I'm kinda partial to the mountains which is why I'm thinking the western part of the state. My mods are in my sig, my buddy has a lifted JKU with m/ts. Looking for a place or two we can basically spend all day out at.

All the free places here take a full day easy. There is another spot that you could make a weekend of. Just start a thread or PM somebody when you decide to head up. Check out Bill and Ted's excellent advent 1, 2, and 3 to see some of the places I am taking about.

That'd be cool, my buddy is actually up in NC somewhere camping with his GF. When he gets back I'm sure we can start to iron out a firmer date.

Is the scenery nice there too? Is there a time of year that's better to go out there? I know some of the places here in florida fill up with water in the summer, stuff like that.

I lived in Tampa 25 years so I know what you mean, no places to wheel there!

I'm in Winston Salem and get to Uwharrie often as well as up in the mountains west of here; let me know when you decide to come up, bring some camping gear and we'll hit some fun spots, oh yeah, don't forget the Swamp Dirt (Everglades Seasoning from Publix, love that stuff on chicken wings, lol!)

To each his own. I wouldn't wheel anywhere but the mountains for FREE. But if you want to deal with a crowd or an ORV park then go to URE. If you like it quiet, and wild go to WNC.
