The flats was pretty cool and had some cool trails but the traffic was rough. I would like to get out there when is less crowded and check out the milder trails in the jeep.
Its always crowded on the open invites, but alot of people like going there. I've been once & that was enough for me.
I'd go again if it was free.... or if you could take beer in with you. Type "the flats" in on youtube and you'll see a bunch of videos of it. This is a place where people take their custom built buggies & raise hell, for the rest of us wanting to trail ride you get into a traffic jam in the woods because idiots pull up & park there vehicle right in the damn way of the trail & you spend a lot of time asking "hey do ya'll know who's in this jeep, truck, etc...".
I guess it's worth going once so you can say yeah i've been to the flats.
BTW for me & billy it was $20.00 to get in, anyone wanting to pay & wheel can pm me & i'd be more than happy to accept payment to show you where to go.
Don't breed em' if you can't feed em'.
hahaha well it definately scooped and shoveled and stored it away for later. but the hose won the battle and im ready for more
tomorrow im gonna do a full tune up, and a full fluid change. diffs too. after finding that gunk in the plug, its time for new all around. all the old stuff will get thrown into a spare parts bin for the trails just incase
Uwarrie sounds like a blast but it's defiantly a weekender I think it's 3 plus hrs away.
Yeah, that's a camp out over night trip for sure, but one that would be good to plan a couple months in advance if you guys want to start kicking around possible weekends, sleeping arrangements, etc. Plus if it's late May, June or July I should have the beast built up by then and i can take it! hahaha! Not to mention camping while its 40 degrees at night sucks! I vote for mid/late June!
Im in for a Uwarrie camping/trail trip. just needs to be on the weekend I dont have my little girl. Thanks to Billy and Ted for hosting a very fun weekend for me. We had a great time at Hurricaine Creek and it was good to meet face to face with some of the guys here. I will try and post some pics if i can figure out how to do it.
FYI- there is a uwharrie run being planed in the NC forum...may 6,7,8 if i remember correctly. Overnight camping available there so i believe thats the plan for them. I might try to go down on Sat. till Sun morning/afternoon. I hope to have the TJ lifted, SYE, DS and locker on by then.
Okay for the next adventure I propose Hurricane Gap (near hot springs) everyone can run this one too. It's not very long but has some good terrain. We usually meet at Bojangles in weaverville then head towards hot springs. It's near where the app trail crosses 25/70.
The condiments are usually out and not protected like at other places.
Doh i forgot you told me that while at the bojangs. haha my bad. I got fresh tranny, transfer, both differential, engine. fluids. (was 2 miles till engine change figured i'd do it all and know when it was done ) also fresh plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air and oil filter, ignition coil, serpentine belt. set me back more then i wished for so ill still be on my tread challenged tires for a while im in for Hurricane Gap if im free !!
