OK guys...major failure on the locker tonight! Come to find out my D44 needs the carrier removed cause the pin will not slip past the ring. So I cleaned it all out and put it back together...while i'm decent on a wrench, this was virgin territory for me and I really didn't wanna screw it up when they started talking about shims and measuring this and that...

Not trying to hijack the thread but anyone got a line on a good 4x4 shop that I can get this done at?

*Edit: Hmmm...just read up a little bit more....hell now i really want to try it again! Nerves may have gotten the better of me...and my crunch for time tonight!
Still, if you know a good shop...lemme know

Pm Wnc he works in hville.
If not there's a guy in Swannanoa that does a lot to/with jeeps that can defiantly do it.

Predator: no worries about pulling the carrier. Just make sure to mark the location of everything, and make sure to keep your shims in order and on the right sides. Do you have a vise?

I went back and looked over all the info and how to's...I think it is do-able, but as i said in my edit above that between the time crunch and all I figured it may be better to have someone do it. I guess expecting one thing and getting it open to see another kinda messed me up too. Now I believe I could do it, but I definitely will have to allow for more time.

Also make sure you have a couple of screwdrivers, they are very useful in a pinch.

You need to jerk the doors off that thing.

Tops off! Left the doors on since they are just halfs anyway, besides, I could not figure out where i could store them in the parking lot of work!

Hope next weekend is as nice!

Treat each of the day's problems as your dog would...
If you can't eat it or screw it, piss on it and walk away!

If in doubt...HIT THE GAS!! It may not always be the right decision, but it will end the suspense!

The build so far....http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f22/p...dator-1342553/

I'm really interested in doing something like this but I have never been. My jeep is completely stock suspension and 235/75/15 A/T tires. I don't live/work far from there (Spruce Pine/Burnsville) but I don't want to get out there and not be able to do anything. I also do not want to tear the jeep all to hell.

Any thoughts about this ? I read the "needing coaching" part but that is too general of a statement for me.

EDIT: Understand, I have never been wheeling before.
