So after the success of our first group wheeling trip to HNH last weekend I and many other have decided to do it again. I know there are a bunch of you guys who missed last weekend and such. Apparently there are a BUNCH of KY guys who wanna wheel at HNH. Anyway our next wheelin day down there is gonna be the weekend of Feb 7 and/or 8th. We will def. be there on the 7th and if anyone wants to stay we could wheel the 8th too.
It WILL be cold then and probably a little muddy but hopefully not as muddy as last time. We had a total of 11 rigs this past weekend, lets try for 15 or 20?? The cost is $10 for each driver and $5 for each passenger.
I will post directions and a meeting place as we get closer to the day. Subway in Owenton was a good place and not that far from the park, but I understand that not everyone wants to drive up there and also some live close to the park so we will decide that as the time gets closer. Anyway this is the official thread for our next wheelin adventure so if you are coming, wanna come, have any questions or whaever post in here. Hope to see all of the same faces plus more. Thanks!!!
Not quite.......but my dad is RV'ing in Tucson and points SouthWest and I just left his house after checking on it and he had some wood that I confiscated for future use! Whether it be a fire at H & H or just one in our backyard......hey, at least I will be ready!!!
Mark, bring some wood with ya man. You dont need a super alot but some is good. I think everyone that is camping is bringing some so we should be fine. I want it to be here now!!!
i cant seem to come up with any firewood arond here, but i will have a chainsaw, so if you wanna talk to Joe, and see if we can cut up some crap that is already down that would be sweet
Yeah we can definatly cut up any small crap that is laying down and already on the groud. Thts not a probelm. And sweet, detroit for your rear!! yay!! Oh and hey Im not gonna be coming down there today. The dude with my tube fenders cant do it today so we are gonna do it another day tis week, plus Im having some serious sinus problems..bla..but anyway check out our new offroad club, T.O.R.C., its in my sig. Oh yeah!!
you can but not until the first meeting. I want to get enough people there so we can have an "official" voting. As this will be an "officil" club with rules, by laws, membership dues (not alot dont worry), club rides, etc etc.
be in for what? this trip? you should come jason! It would be fun. Oh and I took your advice for TORC. I think we are gonna use that logo I posted in the group thread here on JF and then after the HNH trip we are gonna take a bunch of pictures there and make a few different logos wth our own rigs. Plus there will be just a few plain logos with just the club name and website.
haha How much snow you guys get down there? We got about 6" up here and have ALOT more coming tonight. Yeah it would have been super fun today haha NOT! lol
it would have been fun, alot of work, but fun, snow wheeling is awesome fo-sho..we dont have hardly any snow, just some ice, might be more tonight, but who knows
we got 3.5" snow and 1/2" or so of ice on top of that. if it wasn't for the ice, i'd be out in it. i fear ice. it would be sweet to wheel in this mess though.
so are we gonna have enough rigs to do 2 groups? im thinking maybe everybody hit the easier stuff till lunch, and then maybe break off into 2 so that some of us can hit some harder trails? i just want to hit the easy stuff first and make sure everything is gonna hold up to some abuse......
i dont really have to have anything hardcore, but i would like to hit a few harder obstacles....honestly im not real sure whats down there as far as that goes.....B-RAD got any insight on this?
sorry geesh!! we got 10" of snow and about an 1" of ich under that. I had to go play in the snow a little. I've been off work for the last two days, nothing else to do. so calm down people!! lol Anyway there are easier trails and harder trails. Nothing really super hardcore. I have done about 80% of the trails down there in my rig as it sits now. But I know the terrain and how to drive it really well so yeah. But last time we didnt do anything to bad. There are not really any "easy" trails down there. Now dont get scared everyone lol There are plenty of trails that are exactly that..trails..so those looking for easier trails and want some small obstacles there are plenty for you.
The whole creek bed that runs through the whole park is pretty easy and some of the D trails are sorta easy too.
The trails that we hit last time were some of the more middle difficult trails. This time we can run the creek for a while and hit some of the easier trails for a while, and then like Willy said we can (if everyone wants to) split up and do 2 parts of the park. I definatly wanna hit the D trails, and Im sure everyone can do those. They are fun up hills and down and then if everyone saw those few pics from when I went a few weeks ago that trail that I had some flexy pictures on, those were some D trails. Honestly any jeep can do those D trails and long you dont have street tires. If you have a MT or tire with some bite in them it doesnt matter if you have a lift or lockers or whatever. The D trails are right down the hill from where everyone signs in. I figure if everyone that shows up has good enough tires then we can start with those and we can hit those. It will be up the hill, and then down the next and then up the next and then down the next and then circle back around and end up at that flexy spot and then that will take us up to the main clearing again.
Then maybe we can head down that first big hill that everyone came up, its A1, and ride along the whole creek and come back up to the clearing and then we can stop and eat for a while and then if we wanna split up we could then. But trust me, everyone lifted or not will have fun and do soem sweet trails.
The only concern is how to fill up tires after the ride is over. If anyone has OBA please bring it. Also everything I said above was in regards to if it is dry or frozen or even just kinda wet. If its like it was last time then the harder trails in the back on the park (B trails) Im not gonna be able to do. We will only probably be able to stick to the D trails and creek and some of the easier A trails. But if its dry or frozen, the ITS ON!!! lol
