Hurricane Creek 1/12/14

On the NC board they have a ride planned for 1/12/14 which is a Sunday. If anyone wants to convoy over let me know. They haven't set a time yet but it's usually a little earlier and everyone meets up at a place and grabs some breakfast/fuel.

I'm game. What kind of trail is Hurricane Creek?

Anyone game for some wheeling today or tomorrow?

I've only been once during a good amount of snow last year and couldn't get enough traction to get past this one rock. I've read in this other thread it's not too bad as they recently "maintained" it, it is a pretty place though.

FWIW I'm stock on 31s w/ open diffs.

Yeah I'm gonna go probably. Maybe my nephew as well. I'm rolling a JKU Rubicon on stock suspension & he's riding a JK with 33s & open diffs. Any idea when you will leave?

Thanks for the invite but I work tomorrow. It seems the plan is to be at a bojangles in Canton around 9. I will eat beforehand somewhere local as I don't like bojangles.

Edit: It takes just over an hour to get there to bojangles.

The NC people are meeting at Bojangles in Canton and heading out at 9ish. I plan on eating at Huddle House in Erwin and leaving out around 7:30. Takes about an hour to get to Canton. The guy that organized it is a great guy and the ones I've met are too. Let me know what you want to do.

How was this ride? I've been wanting to check out Hurricane Creek for a change of scenery, but would like to know how bored/challenged I'll be.

It was nice views but from what another guy said, the forest service has recently done a bit of work. Really no need to go in to 4wd.

Long ride from Maryville.

I did the whole trail in 2wd low range, the nc forest service has smoothed over all of the difficult sections & has blocked off access to some of the fun " play" areas. They made huge mounds of dirt & downed trees so no one could drive through certain areas.
It's still a cool trail to ride though, just not as fun as it used to be. I'll move this trail to the bottom of my list of places to wheel.
