Sunday Trail ride at Coal rd/Jeep trail near Sherando VA

If anyone is interested I'm heading to Coal Rd./Jeep Trail again this Sunday ? This is very stock friendly trail with many very challenging off shoots . We'll meet up just off 64 [exit for 624/S. Dalphine } at a gravel area on the south side at 10 am .and 10:30 at coal road . There is a gas station right at the entrance for any one needing food and fuel? Thanks Craig text or call 434-249-6450 Cb channel 19 until after we all meet up.

I'm about an hour and forty five min. away. Never been on this trail, how long does the trail take to run. I may be able to make it.

If I had seen this earlier I might have been able to come in the truck.

Maybe another time.

Update on todays ride was fabulous . 2 of us MrJayDeeM and myself started the day off . Fresh dusting of snow was on the ground made things very enjoyable but cold . We ran into a none jeep owner friend of mine and joined us the rest of the way . I did challenge my rig and took the tough trail up the mtn. Made it without a problem, which surprised the heck out of me !!! At the top the pools were frozen over and deeper than the last time . And again we all made it through without a problem . To our surprise the parkway gate at the top was closed . It was such a bother to turn around head back down . On the way back we all took the tough route down and suffered a couple scrapes and a dent but nothing serious . It was a great day on the trail . started at 10:30 ish and of the trail by 3ish with the unexpected gate closing

The parkway gate will close anytime there is bad weather up on the parkway and the parkway closes. No vdot up there to plow.

Guess y'all didn't see the forest service trail close signs for the 'tough' trail that the switch back crosses? Their yellow in the trees..

I have to say no we did not see the closed tags on the trees .Thanks for the heads up .Traveling on trails that are posted closed is not an exceptable behavior . If i had i would have respected the signage and avoided the trail .And I'll make it a point to pass this information along to everyone that i know.
As far as the gate ! We all more than happy to turn around and have more trail time . Since it was just a dusting there was some question if they would have closed the road or not .
Again thanks for the heads up.

Yea its not very well marked and the hunters like to take aim, but there yellow and in the trees, Believe there is one at the bottom turn off. Other intersections have tank traps (monds of dirt)

There may have also been some ICE run off on the parkway, there are some springs that from ice cascades up there near wintergreen. They just don't want anyone to be stranded up there.
