Steel yards in NoVa?

Hi everyone, I'm new to welding and fabricating and relatively new to the area. I was wondering if there are any local steel yards near Fairfax county where I can pick up some decent scrap. It's hard to believe how expensive metal is, especially DOM tubing which is one of the things I'm looking for. Thanks

That's Northern Virginia. Very few people there do anything for themselves.
(I grew up in McLean when there were lots of abandoned buildings and dirt roads)

Try Richmond, or this place in Springfield:

Hmm that place isn't too far, but will they actually sell you metal or is it just for recycling?

Again, I'd look towards a blue collar town:-)

Yes, we here in northern Virginia are quite helpless. Thankfully there's a blue collar town nearby, I don't know what we would do without it.
Try Arlington Iron Works in Manassas. Tell them what you want and ask if they have any "drop steel" or "drop pieces" you could scrounge. They were pretty helpful when I used them.

Ok, thanks guys. I have a welder, but I need to get a tube bender and probably a notcher before I try to do any real fabricating. I just wanted to see what my options are for getting affordable materials for a project like that. Thanks again.
