Shoe Creek Trail Va???

Would like to go up to this spot this Saturday (12/1). Has anyone been up lately? Ive never been and would like to know if there is any limitations or restrictions this time of year.

I heard it was private, if so, would i need permission etc???

Thanks

Its not private and there are no restrictions. I was there in August and have a post on this thread. Great trail and lots of fun. You'll see the private property areas along the trail, but they're well marked and you can still run the whole trail and camp anywhere you want to pull off. Post some pics!

The trail itself is not private but the land on either side is. Don't veer from the trail and don't litter and there's no reason anyone will give you a hard time.

I was there years ago. I lost my directions. Anyone have a quick link or mind giving some out? I would be coming from Williamsburg,VA? I really enjoyed the trails.

I can't give you solid directions to the trail head but the GPS coordinates took me straight there: 37' 47.263 N / 079' 06.173 W.

I pasted that from an earlier thread I put in the "Jeep Stories" section earlier in the year. Does anyone know how to move that thread into this category? I think it would do more good here!

All I know is that its not far from Bald Mtn, used to camp on top of the mountain all the time. I know I live in Michigan, but I used to be stationed on the east coast and I loved the Shoe Creek trail. Let me know if you make it up slick rock!

I'm taking my last set of final exams now. I really want to take a trip up there probably sometime next week or next weekend, is there anyone that wants to go? It would be better to go with a group. Also thank you for the gps coordinates does anyone else have any more gps coordinates that lead to diff trails?

If you go on top of Bald mountain right on the parkway, there is a small two track next to the lookout. Follow the two track, and that is called Big Levels trail if I am correct. Its a long one.

If you can hold off till the second weekend in January I could take you up there and show you around. It's a very easy trail

Slick Rock is private property.

That whole side trail (from the "big" camp site) is ILLEGAL.

The VA Dept. Forestry put the tank traps there to keep people out.

They will confiscate your vehicle after they fine you.

Please stay on the main trail
