Quasi-Legal Trails Near Norfolk

I would like to make it out to Shoe Creek soon but as a high school student it's hard to find the time to make it all the way out there. So are there any somewhat legal trails near Norfolk? Less than an hour or so?

When I lived in New Orleans, there weren't many trails so we got our kicks driving around on old service roads and the like. Not really set apart for crawling or Jeeps but still provided some fun. Anything similar? Maybe in Chesapeake or Newport News area?

there is nothing public - legal here.

every once in a while people try to do what you are thinking out in country area of VA Beach.

every once in a while they get caught.
tickets, fines, vehicles seized, etc..

dont be that guy.
dont let someone talk you into it.
