Don't know how far you are from Windrock, but my buddy and I are going May 19. We're on 33's so we'll be doing some of the easier trails that won't take too much winching.

Yea we got there and ran it from the top to
Bottom and started to rain when
We were passing the big camp site where the trail splits so it was nice up until then. Luckily we had a house rented and didn't have to camp trough it haha some of the girls that were with us wouldn't
Enjoy it. We also fished Sunday and had really good luck under the bridges along 56

No pics but off hwy 56, crabtree falls highway. If you head east on it from the trail head there's
Alot of small bridges that cross it for other roads. My
Favorite is for cub creek rd. We seem to always have good luck around it

I'd like to know where all those spots are, maybe next time y'all go out I could tag along? Are they legal spots like shoe creek?

It's right down the road from shoe creek. Within +- 15 mins, but defiantly I can show you them it's easy to find but mabe on Sunday or after wheeling Saturday we can go to them. Have you done much trout fishing before?

Haha ok yeah I've been to shoe creek once with HRJC. We set up camp where the path splits and goes to slick rock one way or over the mountain to crab tree falls the other way. It was weird getting there because it seemed like we were driving through a neighborhood and then all of a sudden you reach a tree line and boom there's the trail LOL. It was the side where the water crossings are. A few guys attempted slick rock and one snapped a front axel and the other broke a u-joint on the back driveshaft. As for fishing in a stream, never done it before. Lol

Yup y'all went from the bottom(by the white house) where the trail just appears out of no where. We will probably camp up at the top called the meadows when we go.
The basic thing we use for trout fishing is a small light action spinning rod with 6lbs line and spinner baits called rooster tails. Generally I only use a 1/8 ounce black colored one or a piece of corn on a small hook and split shot. Seems to do just fine for us

Yeah I have a good amount of fishing gear, my dad and I like to go fishing in the James river, Chesapeake bay, and off out into the Atlantic. I'm in the middle of building a "trailer tent camper" I hope to be done soon, when it's done I'd sure like to join you guys, sounds like tons of fun. Do you guys cook the fish at camp you catch that day?
