I need install some JKS control arms I recently purchased. The lower ones were replaced when I put my lift on a couple years ago, so they'll come out fine. The upper ones are stock. I tried a couple weeks ago to remove them. Started on the driver's side. The frame-end bolt seems like it's probably rusted to the metal sleeve in the bushing. I tried pounding it out with a BFH, but it didn't budge a millimeter.
I had this problem with the stock LCAs, I had my dad cut them out with a torch. It doesn't seem like that would be a good idea in this case, as the UCA mounts right next to the fuel lines. And there's not much room to work with up there to begin with. My dad won't be able to help me with this particular job.
I took it to one mechanic I've used for other minor things, but he took a look at it and said it's not something he's setup to do. Well, I am also not setup for it. I have done most other work on this jeep, but I don't have the space or the tools for cutting and torching. And I certainly don't have enough experience with a cutting torch to be slinging it 'round the fuel lines.
But I need to get this done.
This is one of those instances where I'm willing to pay someone
to save me a lot of trouble.
Can anyone recommend a garage that will handle this sort of thing? Or any JF members who have done it before and want to lend a hand? I'm in the Cleveland Heights area, but frequently visit family in Troy and Lima.
