Almost made it home. Was pulling into my alley, and could see my house....
I know what is wrong with it, and I still cant believe it. My rear pinion nut was GONE.
I don't even....... I dunno...... I can't even...... Speechless...... I could have died....... Because somewhere in time, that nut got taken off, and replaced without any lock tite or something....... How often does anyone ever checked a friggin pinion nut..... Usually just 'yep, it's there', it should just never come loose..... unless you make it come loose.....
But thanks for setting up the tour. Had a good time, other than wondering if I was gonna make it home.

wow. Good save on that one.
So without looking at mine, how does one fall out with the U joints in place? I can say that I recall that much gap in that area. Probably woulda sounded like a bullet hitting the tub had it flew upwards.

Good points, in addition I remember that they're making right and left had drive Wrangler's there. The dash modules with the steering wheel bolt up the same no matter what side the steering wheel is on. The difference is how they mount the firewall.
Firewall's for right hand drive's are mounted reversed to the standard left hand drive.
I think my favorite part was when the plant manager stopped the finishing line to get some pictures and the line manager came running over like 30 seconds later to see what was going on.
Also, I was trying to figure out how to sneak one of the turbo charged v6's (assuming they weren't diesel) from the Liberty/Nitro line out (either way I would have gladly accepted one). =)
I really can't wait until the pictures are posted.

The tour was awesome! Thanks for setting it up and it was nice to meet some locals, give or take 4 hours. Grogie and I must have went to the wrong Packo's cause nobody else was there haha.
My favorite part were the robots that unloaded everything and the little carts that drove themselves to the line.
I was also amazed that every jeep down the line was completely different from the one in front or the one behind it, and yet every one was completed to their own specifics.
Overall it was a great time, I cant wait for the pics!

Well I'm back in Indy now. My wife and I stopped in Grand Rapids, Ohio for the night.
Thanks to Chris for arranging the tour. It was great to meet all of you as well. The tour really was awesome and as they said rare! I do hope they consider opening up more tours in the future as I think it would be a real benefit to the Jeep brand. Personally after seeing all of those new Jeeps, including a CRD, I wanted one!
The robots were also really cool to see. I'll never forget first looking up after walking into the factory and seeing the line of painted JK tubs rolling along the ceiling. Too bad we couldn't have taken pictures. But I can't wait to see our group pictures.

I think the plant manager lady was very happy to show off the factory. I get the impression the PR chick from Auburn Hills was really unimpressed with the concept and was only doing it because she had been told too.
Early next week, I plan on sending a thank you note to Chrysler HQ mentioning the plant manager by name and thanking them for allowing me to visit. I think we all should, maybe if Chrysler gets some good feedback, they'll consider setting up more tours.

Tim, good suggestion. I'll also do so.
Plus, thanks to Phil for figuring out where we all were to go.

The contact info was in the original attendance doc. Anyone that doesn't still have their's, PM me and I'll send it out. I decided not to post it in the open forum so that people don't start harassing those fine people for tours.

I've still got that email thanks for the heads up. However, the plant manager's name was not in the email just the assistant. Unless I'm missing something.

Different plants have different managers. The wrangler line is run by marlene Gilbert Bush.
What lines did you get to see? Did they take you into the supplier plants? ( Kuka, ommc)

We saw Kuka and the Chrysler Liberty/Nitro plants.
We didn't see OMMC. I halfway think the 2012 stuff could have been over there.
Marlene was our guide but he name was spelled different like Myrleen or something. I saw it on a form on the wall but had no pen to write it down.
She seemed to really dig giving the tour. There was a guy from Fiat/Italy with us but I cannot recall his name.
