I will put that one on the list. Looks nice. We are traveling like gypsies this weekend. Not sure how long we will be anywhere, or where exactly we are going. Headed to the Manistee National Forest area tonight. Either camp at the Nat'l Forest campground, or one of the state forest campgrounds near Luther. I know there are 3 state forest campgrounds near the ORV trails in that area.

I want to head over to Lake Michigan for at least one day. There's a campground in the Nat'l forest that's on the lake. Half the sites are reservable, but all booked up. The other half are first come first served, so I don't know if they will be open.

Anyone that happens to be in the area is welcome at my campfire. Just give me a call.

Still not sure if I want to take my fishing boat (14 ft - 9.5hp). Don't know if I'll find somewhere to drop it in or not. The fishing poles are already packed so we can do some fishing from shore. Probably going to hike in the woods.

Talk to Kolak on this site, he can get some pretty good deals on complete overhaul kits.

Got some much-needed upgrades and maintenance done on the front axle over the last few weeks.

Including making a permanent fix to my 4wd system, complete with TJ chromoly shafts and a Tom Wood's CV Driveshaft. Needless to say I was sick of that 'POS'i-Lock non-sense.

New ball joints, wheel bearings, and steering stabilizer. All the tie rods/ends were replaced a few months ago as well.

Also installed a CB finally... Uniden 520XL. To those who use them, what (if any) channel do you 'cruise' on?

orv trails are across the street from old orchard park. google "old state house trail".

the fishing is blowing up on foote pond too. they killed off most of the carp 4 years ago. dnr told me wait 5 years and it will be crazy. after 4 years its getting loaded with pan fish!

that little 14 footer would be right at home there.

only 7 miles form lake huron too.

Alright folks, I'm going to Rocks and Valleys regardless this weekend. If anyone is interested in going, I will be staying at Wooded Acres Campground in Houghton Lake. Thats where my fifth wheel is parked year round. I am leaving friday as soon as I am off work, right around 6:30. It's a great campground to stay in, very wooded, and family oriented, so its pretty quiet. We can use my place as a "home base" Plenty of firewood so no one has to buy any. The campground sprays regularly for mosquitoes, once a month at least. Call ahead and make reservations. If you know that youre going to show up late, let me know, I can have my father check in for you. He will be up there well before me. Plus I have a boat there too, so if you want to go fishing, we can.

Forgot to mention that R&V is only 20mins or so from that campground.

Just realized it was Bud Bash up to Houghton Lake this weekend. It's going to be an interesting time while I'm up there.

I was thinking about coming up that way, but haven't outfitted the truck for hauling both the trailer and camper.
