I think there's a big bike boneyard there too. I tried to get parts for my old Honda from them. I have a knack for getting the "one model year only" exception vehicles..

Lkq is usually chock full of XJs. I just need one with a D35, most I've looked at are the C8.25.

Where? I know of no such thing. (The bike place.)

Why not just get a 8.25? The 29 spline one is reasonably strong.

I don't recall the name of it. I found it online a few years ago. I'm pretty sure that's where it was anyway.

Because I already have everything I need to do an 8.8 swap regeared to 4.10s. Except for a SYE and new driveshaft.. And time.

Wooohoooo finally filled the tank up to measure MPG's today. Drove 161 miles today, used 7.9 gallons of gas....20 mpg? WTF I was doing 70-75 on the freeway and didnt take it easy in town/city driving. I am very surprised.

According to LKQs online pricing, I should be able to get a whole axle (at the half off price) for less than the regular price of shaft and brakes. I think I'll be on the hunt for an 8.25 with lsd in decent shape!
The 8.8 will still be going in, since I've got the cash in it anyway. But this should get the fire out from under my ***, and let me do a little wheeling again in the meantime!!

Attaboy. How common are they with LSDs in them?

I drug my 05 out today and drove it. Fuel prices are going up and I wanted to fill up while it was relatively low. There's a little tiny shimmy at 55 that was making my OCD act up. Because I drive it so infrequently I think the tires flat spot from sitting. When the tires warm up, it all but goes away. I rotated the tires and it's still present. Barely there, but present. I checked my caster, and it was like 3.8. I brought my UCAs in a little to make it 5.5. It feels better now driving it, but the wiggle is still just barely there. I think my fights with DW last year may have damaged something else. I did a quick steering test, and everything appears tight. More work later, as time allows.

I've only looked at three with the 8.25 and they all had it. Could be luck, but I think it's fairly common. Non-ABS has the 8.25 instead of D35, and either optional or with tow package gets LSD.

I would be THRILLED if I could get mine down to 'minor shimmy'
Anybody want to come to Wayland lkq tomorrow? Midday to afternoon ish trip.

Bet it's pretty there. Fished the Au Sable with my cousin when he lived up there.

Got my rear brakes re built last night. Also swapped the bent shaft out of the turdy five. Thanks to Curt for lending a hand in all of that. We also smoked some ribs, which were AWESOME!
