http://www.hamradiolicenseexam.com/index.html - a 2 year subscription was like $30, an hour a night after dinner for two weeks and I passed with flying colors.

I am going to call the guys at MSCG Inc (Michigan Specialized Communications Group) that work with NWS, NOAA and Genesee County emergency management. When we went through our recent Sky Warn training, we learned about the new storm warning tools, and the very specific areas that they declare a severe storm/tornado warning for under the new system. I don't recall them saying whether or not that new system was linked to more specific storm warnings, or if they are still county-wide.

My son and I report on the monthly siren tests when we can - May 4 we were close to the house so we ran over to Burton Fire Station #2 for the test, but found it was totally inoperative (It was partially working as of the last test in Fall 2012). The other night when the storms were in the area we didn't hear our siren for the first two strings of storms, but when the second batch came through Clio/Beecher then took a right turn and headed south (right at us) we heard ours wailing a warning as we headed off to the basement. So not sure if we missed it earlier in the evening, maybe someone plugged it in part way through the evening, or maybe it only goes off if the warning actually covers our area?

It was actually kind of satisfying hearing it go off after the failed test earlier in the month, apparently our reporting got something fixed! Not sure about other counties, but in Genesee you do not need to be a ham to participate in the test, we have an alternate telephone number you can use for reporting.

I swapped e-mail with JR Kirtek from ABC12 - the sirens are controlled by local government, not by NWS. So the new, very specific warning system does not change the way the sirens are used.

Well, Jeep overheated today. Caught it while it was just in the red... Dissecting now.

I also found out a 30 rack of PBR fits in my mini fridge!

Whaddja get?

Other than the cooling work, nothing good for me. Ended up not joining glfwda yesterday, since I had to spend the money on parts I just hope that fixes it for now.

What do you think... Enough flex? Its on the floor but it could droop 3" more. Where its at now takes a 14" travel shock.

Isn't it missing a couple arms? You took all the stickers off? Getting paint too?

Must have been something in the air last night, a dude at work with an XJ overheated too.
