If you go with a "full case" locker, the carrier is replaced by the locker unit, and you have to move the ring gear to the locker unit and set up the gears.

Justin, how was the hockey game?
It's an assie

And just so you know the ring gear has to be removed on the Dana 30 no matter which you do, the spiders won't come out of the carrier without the ring being off, but if you keep everything lined up it all drops back in place after changing the spiders
That's cool you got to do it at the Joe.

Do you have to remove the ring gear because it interferes with the cross pin removal? I can't remember.

Yeah I think that is why. I just know I've looked into doing in and didn't really feel like pulling it all apart. And I'd loose my all wheel drive, which really kicks *** in the snow

Not difficult. Pull the carrier. Pull the ring gear like Justin said, replace the spider gears with the locker unit, reinstall. I would take a pattern and measure backlash while I was in there, but it shouldn't need any adjustment. Don't forget thread locker on the ring gear bolts and torque to spec.

I am kind of leaning towards Sunday as well. I know Ashland wants to go to the Mounds, but if I stay around here there is a little local thing going on saturday. I can attend both. Bah, I am hung up on what to do. I think Bundy would be closer for both you and I.

Well don't base your decision on me. I don't even know if I can make it or not.

I don't feel comfortable driving over 2 hours to go wheeling right now, the risk of something breaking is to high. Come to the mounds sat and then Bundy sun. You'll make some new friends and I'm sure there is some challenging stuff we can find for you
