I got the rear gears all set up, but my contact pattern jumped when I pressed the bearings on. My '05 also has outer carrier shims, like a Rubicon, rather than under the bearings like a "normal" Dana 44. So I only have so much adjustment for my backlash. I'm not happy with it, so I'm tearing it back apart tonight.

If it was quick and/or easy shops wouldn't charge a small fortune to do it for you. I'm jealous, never invested in the tools and time to try it on my own.

That's the truth. I have about $500-600 in tools for axles. I did the front axle, went real smooth. Took two days' work, after my day job. This 44 has been a real biznitch.
