Jk "seasonal" road maps?

Just looking for safe, legal places to drive my new jeep.
New to off roading and wanted to start with easy stuff. Thanks for any advice or guidance on where to find maps or send me routes you have traveled.

Any dnr or national forest ranger station should have them. I have Two from the Huron Manistee National Forest.

Motor Vehicle Use Maps at http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/hmnf/m...TELPRDB5275851
I called them and they are mailing me the maps too. Just need a SOS plate not an ORV permit.

Try the ORV Routes

http://www.midnr.com/publications/pd..._and_Route.pdf
http://www.midnr.com/publications/pd..._and_Route.pdf
http://www.midnr.com/publications/pd...eels_Trail.pdf
http://www.midnr.com/publications/pd...mmon_Route.pdf

The routes are all maintained to 72" wide, and should be a good place to get your feet wet...not literally, of course!

Go here for a download of a map for Garmin GPS that include NF roads and some State Forest roads, DNR ORV trails and more. Color coded for NF, State and dead ends.

If no Garmin GPS I have some tracks loaded at

Just got back from Silver Lake and found some seasonal roads there now I'm looking for some maps of the area as many places looked to be seasonal roads but had no trespassing signs on em...little confused. and some looked very tight. Anyone have maps of the Shelby/pentwater area? I tried all the places above but they seem to concentrate on central Michigan and Google searches just lead me back here.

Besides a few seasonal roads between Silver Lake and Pentwater and a set south of Mears there are not many more. There are also a few on the south side of Silver Lake. The majority of Seasonal and Forest roads are 17 - 30 miles East/North-east of Pentwater. Not many can be found along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
