Unhappy SE Michigan Frame Repair Shops :(

Just got in to start replacing my nutserts on the driver's side ... and the frame is nearly totally gone where the skid plate connects I could weld little sections in if needed, but I wouldn't feel comfortable replacing 3' of frame. To be honest, I'm a bit heartbroken.

Wondering if anyone has used a frame repair/fab/welding shop around here and had good results (and hopefully a good price!) I figure an ART Safe-T-Cap like this would be best, but possibly overkill. ART Center Skid replacement

Thanks in advance.

There's one on Grand River in Novi that might be able to help, but I'm struggling to remember the name... it's someone's name+frame. It's just east of whatever the new Expo Center is called now. Steve's Frame shop, maybe?

Yep, That's it. I guess I've started to repress all memories of living in Oakland County. They used to do frame repair and dually alignments there.

I have, but only for alignments on Duallys and Semis- they do really good work on those.

Figured I'd post up the resolution I came to for posterity...

I ended up using Antieau's Welding in Westland. He's a one man shop that's been in business for about 30 years and he said in that time he's done at least 100 Jeeps (mostly YJ's though). He did a very good job for a reasonable price. I'd recommend him to any Jeeper's in the area (Plymouth, Westland, Livonia etc)

Ended up getting both bottom center sections where the skid plate attaches replaced and the control arm areas replaced and or plated/reinforced. After rattle canning it with a combo of Locktite Extend Rust Converter (dry for 2 days) and 2 coats of Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer followed by 2 coats of Black Rustoleum Semi Gloss Enamel is looks MUCH better than before and should be fairly protected from the elements. I'm planning on doing Eastwood Internal Frame Coating in another week or two to protect the inside and hopefully avoid any more problems in the future!

Actually ended up welding nuts to the inside of the rails when he replaced them so I've got 6 OEM nutserts if anyone is in need. Cost me $60, I'll sell em for $40.

Thanks again.
