Jeeps Gone Wild - Dec. 27 Interlake, Dec. 28 Redbird

Well, there is definately going to be an interlake, and redbird run, which will happen saturday dec. 27 at interlake, and sunday dec. 28 at redbird. As of now there are 3-4 members of northwest indiana jeepers attending both days, a few rigs from a couple different clubs in southern IL attending sunday at redbird, and myself and a few of our members i have talked to privately attending both days... i will make up a better list as we go. interlake is open everyday from dawn till dusk, no gate or fees, 3500 acres, and 50+ miles of trails, and will be available for wheeling saturday dec. 27. here's a link
http://www.in.gov/dnr/outdoor/2915.htm
I have spoken to tony lance at redbird on several occations and they have made redbird available to us sunday dec. 28, anybody can attend ($10 per jeep fee) about 1200 acres, and has one of the BFGoodrich outstanding trails. here's a link.

You can choose to run either saturday or sunday or both. for those running both days we are staying at the drury inn east of evansville on saturday night (which is about 30 minutes south of interlake) but there are several motels in evansville to choose from, then will make the 1 1/2 hour trip up to redbird for sunday.
FYI, interlake is out in the boonies and there are no ammenities, redbird has a town close by, and a gas station down the road which supplies air, but keep in mind these places are definately more primitive and remote then badlands, no recovery or repair other then who we have with us to help. plus, we do not know a whole lot about interlake, so it will be more of a fact finding run (unless we get some peeps to attend that know the trails).
Please post ASAP which day or both you will be attending so we can get a list going. I also realize some will not be able to make these runs due to the holidays, but, we wanted to make it available to all those who can and want to come.

Damn, in-laws in town for the holidays, so I'm guessing the wife won't be on board with this outing. I definitely want to get down there some time (maybe a spring/summer run???).

Also, why can't Blago bribe someone to get Illinois some public trails like Interlake???

I may participate on one or the other, depending on weather and stuff next week. Would definately like to do some wheeling over the break. I get cabin fever this time of year pretty badly.

I'm originally from Linton (one of the towns near Redbird), and have done a little wheeling there, but never been to Interlake.

The blue trails are in the wooded area and the dark red trails are the prairie area in general. They are not posted at the trail head as what is what so if the trail looks narrow, use some common sense and realize you probably aren't supposed to be on it. If you guys have any other questions let me know. I will do my best to help you guys out if I can.

On Sunday Dec. 28 at Redbird,We will be meeting at around 8:00 am local time at the main gate, and will start wheeling between 8:30 and 9:00. Redbird is on EST, so should be the same as indy. For the Illinois and NWIN guys they are an hour ahead same as badlands. They are opening an hour early for us, so we may as well take advantage of it and cover as much ground as possible.

Updated list....
