winch plate

from everything I see a mounting plate is nothing more than a pice of flat 1/4 steel with holes for mounting. my question is where can I find a pice of steel to fit my bumber near chicago. unfourtunatly I don't have access to a welder right now but don't wan pay $70 to buy one if I don't have to.

Most machine shops have some scrap metal.. thats not going to be your problem though. Fitment will be. just slapping a piece of metal on your jeep and calling it a winch plate isnt exactly as easy as you might think. I actually have a winch plate and a hacked up tube bumper and a complete rear tube bumper i have been meaning to sell if youre interested.
