looking for trails!

I live up in the more northern part of Illinois in the town of round lake and off the top of my head I can't think of anywhere to go, to go wheeling. is there anyone that lives even remotely close to my area that can fill me in on a location or two?

Here are the two closest locations to the Chicago area where most people go:

The Cliffs Insane Terrain
Badlands Off Road Park

I know it is mentioned in tons of other posts, but don't head out on your own. Find a group of experienced off-roaders to join for your first outing. You'll enjoy the fraternity and there is a lot to learn. Enjoy!

Unfortunately unless you have access to private land, you won't be off-road without driving a bit. It's one of the curses of living in Illinois.

Both parks are worth the drive. You will be able to easily spend the day at each place. Also up in the Northwoods there are old logging trails and service roads that you are able to travel. They do close down from time to time when it gets wet.

Hey i know i have had couple replys from nickit in past whats up bro? Finally got my wj running and the four wheel back together, question is, i only have mud terrain tires no lift and no front tow points, is it still worth goin out and try to hit some trails at the cliffs?

Ive had experience off road but its been many years, i use to go to badlands all the time with my quad and zj but never been to the cliffs before. Been itchin to get out lately and would live to get down there for the holiday

They have beginner trails there, that's where I'd be going lol. I'm running a two inch lift and I'll be getting some new front and rear bumpers reaaaally soon.

If you're interested in wheeling this weekend, I'm heading to the Badlands this Sat and camping overnight. I'm meeting up with a buddy who is an excellent spotter. I've only wheeled a few times ever and I'm totally stock and had a blast.
