WOHVA Updates March 2012

WOHVA Update March ‘12

Since our last update, WOHVA has been working diligently assuring that environmentally responsible OHV recreational opportunities are expanded here the The Wisconsin Off-Road Vehicle Park Development Workshop Project Team held our second meeting last month.

Several WOHVA members participated in the meeting. The Workshop (being held in April) will outline Park development from the perspective of Forest County as well as from the motorized recreation enthusiast. Both will walk away from the Workshop with an understanding out exactly what each must do to assure that an Off-Road Park of regional and national renown becomes a reality in Northern Wisconsin. For more on this workshop (including registration information) visit the WOHVA web site and click on the “Events” tab.

WOHVA participated in regular monthly meeting for the Wisconsin Off-Road Vehicle Park, Inc. (WORVPI). Regular updates on WORVPI (including meeting agenda & minutes) and all WOHVA special projects can be found in the “Projects” window located on the WOHVA Webpage. Project Updates are available to WOHVA Individual Members on-line and are provided quarterly to WOHVA Supporting Groups and clubs/organizations that have expressed interest by contacting WOHVA and offering their assistance in helping WOHVA expand OHV opportunities here in the Badger State. Visit the newly launched WORVPI web site at HYPERLINK "http://www.worvpi.org" http://www.worvpi.org.

WOHVA participated in the regular monthly meeting of the Lake States Resource Alliance (LSRA) Land Use & Legislation Committee (LULC). The committee recommends actions on legislation and land management issues affecting public land stakeholders in the lake states region (Michigan, Minnesota & Wisconsin) to the LSRA Board of Directors.

The Market Research Study for a Badger State Motorized Recreation Area (MRA) was recently delivered to WOHVA. The study will be used to further develop an Operational Business Plan for a yet to be proposed MRA. Informed access advocates will recall that WOHVA previously contracted with an independent consultant to conduct a three phase project to develop a business plan for establishing a Motorized Recreation Area here in the Badger State. When completed, the study will serve as a site specific feasibility study as well as the business plan for a MRA. Regular updates on this project will be available on the WOHVA web site with detailed updates expanded upon in the WOHVA Members Only Forums. Watch the website for more details as they become available.

Recreational trail supporters from across the country signed on to a letter which was delivered to every member of the U.S. Senate of February 24th. WOHVA is pleased to have signed the letter on behalf of Wisconsin
