Wheeling out in Edgewood - Tijeras?
Hi all. I'm getting ready to move to Edgewood from Albuquerque to get away from all the noise and smog. Problem is I'm not too familiar with this area and would like to know if anyone has done any wheeling in these areas? If so what are some good spots and lastly, is anyone on this forum from there?

there is an area known as Cedro Peak which is a great wheeling areas and one of my favorites around albuquerque, however right now it is closed due to Stage III fire Restrictions. make sure to check out (Link in my signature) for more local talk
Here is a link to the "Cedro Peak" area

Hey bhblaine, thanks for the link to Cedro Peak... do you know the difficulty rating of this trail? Can a stock like mine with T/A's complete it? Thanks for the info!

sorry for the delay, dunno why this didn't show up on the "What's New" button. A stock jeep would be able to complete this trail.

When out to the Cedro Peak area even though it was closed on Friday (8th)...
Stopped at Molly's..Had one drink and listened to the band for awhile..
It was fun just to cruise the area and will be back over there when they open the camping road..

Is Cedro Peak open yet? Looking to take out my new (to me) Rubicon this weekend. Gonna take the family if anyone is interested.

Sorry, I mean next weekend.

mgkbull 08-14-2011 05:09 AM

Yeah it's open. I was out there with the New Mexico 4 Wheelers group a few weeks ago. It was an awesome fun time.

I went out today just to see where the trail head was. It was pretty easy to find, as was the end of the trail where it comes out on Juan Tomas. How well marked is the trail once you are on it? Is it easy to take a wrong turn?

mgkbull 08-14-2011 03:00 PM

No, the path is very visible and there are markers everywhere. Including spots where you are NOT allowed to go. When we went, we aired down to 8psi and it took us about 4 hours to navigate the entire path in a nice steady pace. Check out the last photos for when we were out there with the group

Looks like you guys had fun. I'm stoked! It is supposed to rain next Saturday. That should really add to the challenge.

How ya'll liking all this snow?

ToothlessJoe 12-15-2011 11:41 PM

I'm having a blast in the snow! Pulled out countless people already :2thumbsup:

I live in Edgewood...and there's always the 5k trail which is just up the road from Sonic. It gets tight in places, but it's not very technical. Its pretty short, but it can still be fun.
Also in Sandia Park (about 15 minutes away) there are a ton of places to wheel. If you want more info just let me know. :cheers2:

i might get some of that info from you!!! ^^^
