Requirements for trail riding in AZ

Just moved into the state (military) and am keeping my TX residency/plates/registration for the 6-9 months I'm going to be here. I've tried reading through AZ's rules regarding going out on the dirt trails that surround Tucson and am having some trouble deciphering what I can do and what (if any) permits I need to be legal. IE public vs trust land and what is required to traverse either.

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks!

Check the listings of trails at The Arizona Virtual Jeep Club (AZVJC) they keep a good list of what is open or closed. I just got back from doing the Rubicon Trail in Cali with members of the AZVJC. Great group very active. Join up.

Thanks for the link, I'll do some searching on their site for laws and regs.

If you are running with any of them you have no issue as long as you Jeep is Legal to be on the road. People wheel here from out of state all the time. The trouble is closed trails are not marked many times, though closed. People run them at the risk, since not knowing is not a excuse. But if you ride with them we will not ride in known closed. PLUSS it is BEST to not drive trails here alone. With summer heat and flash flooding. Heat has killed many here in the outback. Looks like you might like hard core trails too so ya you fit right in. night runs in a group is fun cooler. or you have do like we did and go somewhere too. so ya join them i am on it as well. once you did that you can see what runs are going down now and months from now a moab trip is there is seen to day. Moab mmm
