Emissions are not a big deal, we have them here too. What do I need to do to my Jeep for the heat? I see a lot of louvers and lower stats? Are these necessary? Obviously A/C will be ready and I learned not to park in the sun when it's over 100 when I visited Vegas a few years ago...

All in all I am excited for the move and can't wait to hit some trails out there!!

You should be fine. I'd get your windows tinted when you get here, buy the window shade for your windshield and you will be fine. Keep us posted.

I have lived in Phoenix for 8 years now and my wife and I really like it here. It is truly a very unique part of the country to live. As others suggested, try to find a place to live that is fairly close to where your work. This city is very spread out. Looking at the Peoria area would be a great place to start. Litchfield Park is nice too. There are trails all over this state and all types of difficulty levels so that is going to be something that you're really going to love. If you have any other questions or concerns just shoot me a PM.

Heading down on the 22nd to look at houses. We have narrowed it down to the Peoria, Sun City, Suprise area. I am planning on going back to school while my wife works from home. Once we have a place nailed down we are hoping to move in late July! Big leap for us but I haven't talked to one person that made the leap and regretted it. Hoping I'm not the first.

Surprise and Peoria are nice choices, I'd avoid Sun City if you want to maintain any sanity while driving (retirement city, golf carts on the road, etc)

Moved here 30 Years ago from Iowa and never looked back.
If your looking for houses i suggest getting a realtor. There's a lot of bargains here now.My wife is one if your looking for info.
Peoria Glendale Phoenix will all put you in the North area of the valley. From there its 30-60 minutes to the first fishing hole/ target shooting and wheeling area.
I've been all over the north part of Maricopa and most of Yavapai County.
Good Luck with your adventure
Mike

Thanks, we are renting first. We want to make sure that we are where we want to be. Everyone I've talked to that has made the move has told me exactly what you did....best thing they ever did.

Renting would be good.Watch the lease you have to sign so you don't get hung up on one.Make sure your not in a HOA area.
