Moving west

My family and I are considering a move to the Phoenix area and I was looking for input from some of you that live out that way. I figured that input from like minded people would be better that stranger input. Hoping that there is some nice fishing spots and plenty of off roading for the family!

I have not been to these for a couple years, but Table Mesa and Florence Junction are both excellent areas to wheel in and not far from the Phoenix area. Check them both out, I highly recommend them.

Do yourself a favor and look to live near where you're going to work or in between work and play areas. It can easily take an hour or more to get thru traffic during work days. The two areas Joe mentioned are both good wheeling areas but are probably 100 miles apart. I like the north valley because I like being closer to the mountains toward Flagstaff. Good luck and take your time.

Glendale/Litchfield Park/Buckeye is a pretty good area to live, lots to do there. If you have money I suggest Scottsdale... just stay away from the central/south side.

Depends on what you do for work. It's a small town so jobs are limited. I like Flagstaff, in the summer. You have to like snow.

love and miss the snow. i don't really have a career yet, but i might get into trucking.

Why don't you become a brewmaster. There are 2 microbreweries in Flag. One had a sign up looking for a brewer.

There are plenty of places to 4x4, hike, fish, sightsee, etc. in and around the Phoenix area, hell the whole state of Arizona for that matter... Before I moved out here many, many years ago, I flew out and spent some time checking out the area. That way I was able to see first hand what I was getting into (so to speak). There are many websites that will provide all kinds of information... just Google...

BTW if you are anti-gun then just forget Arizona and pass right on into California... :teehee:

Thanks everyone. We are looking at the Peoria area as I have read the schools are top notch. We have friends in Chandler, Phoenix and Scottsdale. I would love to hook up with a club so I can learn the trails...however I do believe the XJ will need some skids before then!

...oh and I'm not anti gun. I don't own any because my kung fu is strong, but I fully support everyone's right to own and carry!....As far as Cali, we live in Illinois, so I have had enough of the government in my pocket and they can go screw themselves with their nazi emission standards. See picture of my 11 year old below!!!

Gunga 05-10-2011 08:33 AM

Be prepared for our emission standards here in AZ. Right now they're tested in the Phoenix area and Tucson.

-Zona- 05-10-2011 04:57 PM

They don't test down here in Sierra Vista and we have kickass trails!

but if you want your kids to have a decent education and don't want them to become meth dealers stay far away!!! :rtft:
