mojave green rattlesnake

One of our members found the first mojave green rattlesnake for this year. Keep an eye out on the trails. These things can be very nasty, and tasty too.

Does anyone know how long these have been (out this year) in Az?

not really sure what you mean. We have alot of snakes and you can run into them anytime. Just do not get bit by one of these. Would be a real bad day.

Sorry to be unclear. When did they come out of hibernation this year? We are in so cal and started seeing snakes a bit early, but they were not moving very fast. They are up to full speed now though LOL.

We live in a agricultural area and we get plenty of "Az" snakes in on the hay trucks. Truly hoping to not run into a Mojave Green!

PS, I see you say "anytime", are they year round in Az?

They can be depeneding on temps and where you are, we had a very mild winter, well what winter, here. Many wheelers end up in canyons that are dens. I think there has been more rain and with that for food, rats mice, small children and they seem to be getting larger too.

Yea i would hate to be tossen bails and have a moster like that one in my face.

PS this one was found by a club members yard in golden valley i think and was about the day i posted this. but like i said it has been warm most the winter.

Rattlesnake does taste like a chicken neck and if you get it skinned and on the BBQ in less than a hour the pieces will turn themselves--I won a few BEERS on this over the years too--HI 222DOC!
