This is a rare opportunity to see another very scenic and beautiful part of Arizona; the Harquahala wilderness area. Steve and Barb McKinney, owners of the CAJ most favored off-road Jeep repair and muffler shop, have agreed to be our Trailmasters and guide for this trailride. Our destination; the Harquahala Wilderness area and observatory, is approximately 125 miles Southwest of Prescott, near the town of Aguila. It is pavement nearly all the way from Prescott and Phoenix, but it will still be a long day getting there, touring the area, and getting back home.
The Prescott Jeep contingent will assemble at Waffles-N-More (928-778-3039) at 1365 West Iron Springs Road, Prescott, at 0800. Arrive at the Waffle place earlier if you want to get breakfast. We will depart no later than 0830 - call me at 928-379-0003 if you are a bit late and we can wait for you for a short while.
The Wilhoit contingent of Jeeps will be picked up at Kirkland Junction between 0900 - 0915.
Fortunately for the Phoenix/Valley Jeepers who wish to join us, we will rondevous in the town of Aguila at Woody's gas station, which means from Phoenix one just drives 58 miles Northwest on Grand Avenue/US-60 through Wickenburg then West on US-60 about 24 miles to Aguila to Woody's. The Prescott contingent should arrive at Aguila at approximately 1030 - 1045 hours. It will be necessary to bring lunch again on this trailride, as we plan to be in the wilderness at noon.
