What's Moab like in March?

I'm planning on taking my Dad down on March 22-23. I have only been down late April - early October. I'm not a fan of wheeling in the snow. And I know it's unpredictable, but historically, has anyone been down that time of year?

Trails we will do: Hell's Revenge, Poison Spider, maybe metal masher or Elephant Hill.

Thanks

I'd say plan on it and just go. You might have to change plans/trails based on weather, but typically by the end of March Moab is pretty thawed out. I've been several times between early Feb - mid June and the only time I can remember there being an issue was when a handful of us were down there around February 10th or so. We did Hell's and for the most part it was just fine, but there were a couple of north facing descents that were a little sketchy because of lingering ice. It caused a mild pucker for a few seconds, but everyone made it through unscathed.

Ha!! That's what i was thinking too. We're planning on it. I think chances are pretty good most the snow will have melted by then. I think I just wanted to be reassured. We need a trip anyway, so we will go regardless of the weather.

Its been snowy this year. But usually by the end of Feb, first week of March, its warmed up (at least day time, Nights are fairly cold). Typically by the end of March, its warmed up into the 70's

I went for my birthday one year(march 13th) and stayed a few days down there. During the day time it was a little chilly but we ran with no doors ok. We did hells, poison spider, and i believe metal masher. Didnt run into any snow or anything but as soon as the sun started to set it got downright freezing down there. We were camping and were very grateful for our tent heater.

Yeah, I was less worried about temps as I was trampling in snow. He's an old-timer, so we'll be crashing at a hotel in town.

Jeep safari starts on the 23rd this year...so that is something to consider. Typically the real crowds don't arrive until the next week but you never know. May be challenging to find a place to stay, but should be ample camping.

Booked our place yesterday. I was unaware it started the 23rd. Hope the trails aren't over-crowded. However, with just the old-timer and me, we're in no hurry.

We're heading out there for a week in mid March as well. Never been there and I'm hoping the weather cooperates. Now if I can just get the little TJ ready.

If the last two posters don't mind, post up when you get back. I'm going regardless, but I'd love to know what the weather is like. If you think about it.

I'm looking at being in moab April 4-7th for anyone wanting to avoid the EJS fiasco.

I was there a couple weeks ago. It was right around 50 during the day with some lingering snow and ice wherever there was shade.
I think by late March you should be fine.
