Found a Rubicon rear with factory locker and 5.38 gears. The project is coming along. It might be time to start a build thread. :-)

Well so much for that, the ****** sold it to someone else before I could pick it up (within 18 hours of confirming the sale to me). Back to the drawing board...

I ordered a bunch of things (anti wrap bar, bushings, cj to yj spring hangers, speedo cable) this afternoon and pulled of the rear cross member I installed about a month ago because it was rusting. I cleaned it off and primered it. My wife is bailing on me tomorrow night so I'll hopefully be able to paint it and get a few other odds and ends taken care of. I'd like to get it back installed tomorrow but feel like I ought to probably let it cure at least over night before I bang it around on everything.

I don't blame the buyer for trying, just wish the seller would have let me know first so I could have had a chance to get there since he had already committed it to me.

Bought some new V Belts for the YJ , and Filled up the Gas Tanks on Both Jeeps !

I miss Gas being 1.25 Gallon from when I started driving 15 years ago. The YJ Ran took 18 gallons and the XJ took 19.5 gallons @ 3.59 gallon

Think how I feel. I remember coasting into a gas station (out of gas) with my brother's 1969 F-250 twin saddle tanks and cab tank, filling it all the way up, grabbing a pack of smokes, a chocolate bar and a bottle of Coke. Handing over a $20 and GETTING CHANGE!!

I doubt now I could do all that for less than $200.00

Yes, I'm showing my age...

Mind you, I was also only making $2.25 an hour.

Ya no kidding.. I started around then. Was nice. But actually I haven't been to bothered by gas for the last year or so. Ever since I lived in Washington DC that summer that gas sky rocketed and I was going through a tank of gas every 1-2 days. That was tough. Here I was spending 80-100 a day in gas in my Nearly stock WJ.. I'm happy with how little gas I use now ha ha

Seriously. Me and my buddy's would all pitch in 5-10 bucks and fill up one of our cars to cruise the weekend usually mine cause I had the Z28 and 3 dudes in a ranger and minivan was lame. I remember race fuel was 4.00 a gallon. I don't even want to know what it runs now lol

My first car was a 1982 VW Rabbit Diesel S. I started driving in the late 80s. Diesel was .79, it cost about $8 to fill up, and I got over 50mpg
